Rainhill Equine Rescue Facility - Thanksgiving 2023

Melanie Barker

Updated: Jul 13, 2024

Rainhill Equine Rescue Facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky rescues horses that are old, blind, abused, neglected, left for dead, unwanted, and taken to kill pens. Ms. Karen rescues the horses nobody wants and takes them to her quaint and peaceful retreat where they are loved unconditionally, will never be re-homed, and where they will live the rest of their lives. She currently has 52 horses, 40 of which are blind.

Every Thanksgiving, KACCO collects monetary donations so we can purchase apples, carrots, and corn oil (regular cooking oil) for the horses. Apples and carrots are healthy treats the horses enjoy while Ms. Karen mixes the corn oil in their food. This allows the older horses to swallow much more easily, helps provide the extra calories they need during the winter, and gives them a shiny, healthier coat.

For 2023, our goal is to raise between $2,500 to $3,000 to help purchase enough apples, carrots, and corn oil for all 52 horses this holiday season!

We are accepting donations now through Nov 13, 2023. If you would like to make a donation, please send checks or money orders made payable to the information below:
